What is a Nurse Practitioner?

Julianne Bergdale, RNP

Originally from the mid-west, Julie and her husband, Mark, are now permanent sun loving residents of the valley. Julie's nursing experience began in 1974 as a licensed practical nurse. Through the years she has dedicated herself to the science of nursing and continued her education becoming an RN and then finally graduating from the University of Phoenix as an OB/Gyn Nurse Practitioner in 1995. Julie joined Camelback Women's Health in September 2000 after leaving a large OB/Gyn practice in the west valley.

Dawn M. Huff, BA, BSN, MSN, WHNP

Born in California and raised in Tucson, Dawn Huff (formerly Nelson), has chosen to name Scottsdale home. She attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree in Psychology and went on to get a second undergraduate degree in Nursing. Dawn worked as an RN in labor and delivery, medical/surgical and triage at Banner Good Samaritan. She then continued her education at Arizona State University where she obtained her Master's degree and Nurse Practitioner. Dawn joined Camelback Women's Health in July 2002. Dawn and her husband, David, welcomed their first child, Stella Mae, February 3, 2007.

Amber Swanson, BSN, MSN, WHNP

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Amber has chosen Scottsdale as her new home. Amber attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois for her Bachelors in the Science of Nursing. Amber worked as an RN, focusing in women's health, including labor & delivery, and high risk pregnancies. While working full time, she continued her education at Loyola University to obtain her masters and becoming a women's health nurse practitioner. Amber joined Camelback Women's Health in August of 2006 after leaving her position in the Abrazo Healthcare System. Amber shares her home with her 3 lovable pups, Foster, Sammy, and Max. Amber speaks Spanish fluently.

Mary Meyer , WHNP

Born in Kansas and raised in rural Arizona, Mary has made Phoenix her home since September 2000. Mary started her nursing career in 1988 as an RN focusing primarily in labor & delivery. She attended the Harbor/UCLA Nurse Practitioner program in Torrance, CA completing her WHNP degree in 1993. Mary and her husband, Colin, take care of their rescue dog, Roamer. Camelback Women's Health was thrilled to add her to the team in February 2007.
